A top priority for correspondent and respondent banks alike continues to be the economy. Dr. Aleman examines key issues including:

  • The U.S. economy continues to drift away and the Federal Reserve seems to be between a “rock and a hard place.”  How long is this credit crisis going to remain with us?  Where are interest rates heading?
  • The U.S. dollar weakness is one of the causes of the strong price of petroleum.  Is there a solution for the U.S. dollar weakness?
  • Are there good reasons, other than a weak dollar, for petroleum prices to be so high?
  • The U.S. housing market is very close to a bottom.  Does this mean that we should expect a rebound soon?
